Before the beginning

There was love

Before there were stars, oceans, or a single human heartbeat, there was love. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit have always known and enjoyed each other in perfect love. God has never been lonely, and He didn't make you because He needed you. He made you to share what He already enjoys.

That's why the Bible doesn't just say God is loving. It says something bigger:

Love, light, life. This is what you were created for. So why doesn't life feel that way?

The fracture

We ran from that love

But we ran. All of us. We decided we'd rather rule our own lives than receive His. The Bible calls that rebellion sin, and it isn't just breaking rules. It's breaking away from the very source of love, light, and life. We see it every day in our pride, our anger, our selfishness, our lust, our dishonesty, our greed, and even in our living as though God isn't there. We've all tried to be our own king.

And when you cut yourself off from love, you're left grasping for it. Cut off from light, we hide, pretend, and cover up. Cut off from life, everything runs down toward death. That's the fracture running through our world, and if we're honest, through each of our hearts.

“Your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God.”Isaiah 59:2

The rescue

While we were still running, He came

God did not wait for us to find our way back. We couldn't. Instead, the Son of God stepped down into our brokenness. Jesus lived the life of perfect love we were made for and never managed. Then, on the cross, He took our place. He was plunged into our darkness, cut off in our separation, and He died our death, absorbing the punishment we deserved.

And then He rose. Death could not hold the Author of life. The tomb is empty, and everything He is, His love, His light, His unstoppable life, He now offers to you.

And this rescue mission has a destination. Jesus isn't just saving people from something, He's saving them for something: a new creation, where God dwells with His people, every tear is wiped away, and death, darkness, and separation are gone forever. The story that began in a garden ends in a world made new, and He wants you there.

“God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”Romans 5:8

“And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.’”Revelation 21:3-4
